Daniel Lamberts Trousers

Daniel Lambert’s Trousers - The Play

was conceived by Skatz in 2010 and was due to tour in 2012 but has been put on hold for the foreseeable future.

Here is the press release info that was circulated in 2011:

‘History is the new Rock’n’Roll!!’

Dave is a scientist who wants to be a rock star. He also wants to be clever and talented and impress his history loving girlfriend with his knowledge of Leicester. And he wants it NOW!

Ignoring the advice of his professor and peers to “Stop messing with your head!” he builds a machine which can load the knowledge and skills he needs straight into his brain, and with a sense of self preservation bordering on the insanely reckless, he plugs himself in and flicks the switch.

Daniel Lambert’s Trousers is the story of what happens when Dave wakes up inside his own head and realises he’s not alone. His sense of self has split into three, and while this makes for some excellent backing vocals he soon finds that his ‘band’ aren’t harmonious at all, each of them fighting to be in charge.

All the while, at the back of his mind, Dave can’t help feeling he’s missing something important. Is it his lost girlfriend Emily? Is it his sanity? Or is it just the enormous pair of trousers dangling next to the closet with the skeleton in?

This is a fast-paced, funny, twisted tale with a twist in the tail; a surreal song-filled adventure full of characters from Leicester’s history, sprinkled with Shakespeare, pop psychology and a rather good A to Z road map.

Once more into the breeches dear friend...

History of Daniel Lambert's Trousers

Almost 10 years ago, Skatz began to write a series of songs about the folk heroes, tales and legends of Leicesterhire and beyond with fellow singer songwriter Steve Cartwright. The songs were always designed to be part of a bigger show, and in the process of touring the songs and coming up with a story to wrap the songs up, it’s turned into a full scale play. Skatz has written the script with editorial input from actor/director Trevor Peake.
